The support of the city was crucial to make it happen. And I'm not just talking about financial support, also the introduction into the Antwerp fashion community has given us a lot.

One-time rental of durable clothing and accessories

Dressr is a Belgian online platform where consumers can rent clothes and accessories from sustainable brands. With this innovative project, Dressr aims to add one-off rentals to the existing subscription model. This will allow consumers to rent one or more items for a short period of time (10 days), for a specific occasion, for a one-off payment.
This will be possible through Dressr's website and the websites of all participating fashion brands; around 50 sustainable, local brands that can offer direct rental of individual items through this concept.

What innovation did you work out?

Caroline Baeten: "We were already renting through our own website. But we wanted to reach more people. With the city's grant, we developed technology so that participating brands could offer rentals on their own websites, to their customers and fans. It sounds cliché, but that's a real win-win: fashion brands gain a channel without any effort on their part. And we get visibility with their customers. The label Marylène Madou was the first brand to partner with us. They wanted to create a line for rental only, to make the creations accessible to more people. If a customer wants to rent an extremely beautiful dress for a special occasion like a wedding, for example, they order it from Marylène Madou on the website and get it sent from us. That's how the customer gets to know us."
