Meat replacement (insect based) food for cats
As an alternative to the high meat consumption of pets, the start-up Imby Pet Food aimed to develop and produce meat-replacement food for cats. By using proteins from insect and plant sources, the company can produce healthy pet food with a high nutritional value that has a much lower carbon footprint than cat food containing meat.
How did you get started?
Nicolas Bartholomeeusen "It wasn't an overnight process, of course, it took a lot of thought. But we quickly realised that a lot of people still think that animals need meat to survive. That's not true, animals just need the proteins in meat. Led by our bio-engineer, we started experimenting and ended up with insect and plant based dog food that is sustainable and healthy for your pet. We launched our brand: Imby Pet Food. Imby stands for: in my garden. Because we believe that we can only change our world if we all take individual steps."
